Born & raised in the wide open spaces of Texas, Amarillo has been my home for over 35 years. Having grown up on a farm in the south plains of the Texas panhandle, I love the country way of life. My home & shop are located on the edge of Palo Duro Canyon, where the sunrises and the sunsets are amazingly beautiful.
My journey started when I was sketching stuff in grade school. A new guy came into class and he was into the same thing, but at a different level. It blew me away and opened up my eyes to something new. I started seeing art in different things - in everything from Picasso to Warhol, from Ernest Tubb to Mozart, and from Frank Lloyd Wright to Bob Loveless. My inspiration for my designs comes when I see a knife in a shoe, or in the lines of a car, or a character in a movie.
I enjoy designing and making different styles of knives. I’m grinding a variety of metals – high-tech stainless steels, and carbon and mosaic Damascus from some of the world’s best known makers. I use mainly natural, stabilized materials for the handles – exotic woods, ivories, stag and horn. While I design and make my own models, your individual designs and embellishments are welcome.
Thanks to friends and family who have helped and supported me. Most of all, thank you, my customers for choosing a Champion knife.
Guarantee
I guarantee each knife against defects in workmanship and materials with the assumption the knife is used properly as a cutting tool and not anything else. This guarantee does not extend to the natural handle materials, as many of these may shrink, check or develop cracks with age. All materials are stabilized as thoroughly as possible, and I am always looking for new and better processes to improve their durability.
Caring for your Champion knife
A good rule of thumb is to treat your knife the way you would treat your gun. Clean and oil it regularly, especially carbon Damascus steel.
Do not store your knife in the custom sheath when not in use. Leather tends to draw moisture, which may cause rust. It will also help the sheath maintain a good, snug fit.
